Frequently Asked Questions

A referral is not required to access Physiotherapy in Alberta but it may be required by your health insurance benefits provider.
It is more common to see “prescription required” listed under Massage Therapy benefits than Physiotherapy benefits but we recommend you check your plan to avoid any surprises on your first visit.

Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or call us at 780-424-4804—we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.

Ehryn and Ashley, our clinic owners and Physiotherapists, are passionate climbers. They have installed an in-clinic climbing wall, a hangboard, and a Tindeq Progressor to test the peak load of your fingers for the climbers that frequent our clinic.
We also have a long history of treating TMD which is a disorder affecting the jaw. Kerri and Ehryn have invested in advanced education in this field and have a wealth of experience to back it up.

The first visit with your Physiotherapist is referred to as an Assessment. Generally your Physiotherapist will start by asking you questions about how the injury occurred, what makes the pain worse, what makes it better, and if you have a history of injury in the area. They’ll then assess your movement and perform physical testing to help diagnose the problem you’re experiencing. At Corona Station Physical Therapy we value education and so you can expect to receive an explanation of your diagnosis and treatment plan near the end of the appointment.
Typically in our assessment you’ll experience a partial treatment (typically education and/or exercises) as well, as time allows.
-
Our treatments rely heavily on manual hands-on therapy, exercise, and education. Some treatments may include other modalities such as heat, ice, therapeutic ultrasound, traction, or TENS/EMS as recommended by your Physiotherapist. Medical acupuncture and/or dry needling can be included if recommended although it is optional and based on a client’s comfort level.
We recommend planning to be here for up to an hour for all appointments, although your treatment may take less time depending on your condition.
