Shari Black, RMT: From Hong Kong to Edmonton

To welcome our new Massage Therapist to the Corona Physio team we’ve held a special interview for everyone to get to know her and her amazing career that spans over 20 years with experience across the globe!

What was it like working with the Hong Kong Ballet?

“The five years I spent with the ballet was the highlight of my career. The dancers work so hard and it was very rewarding for me to be able to address their many injuries and to see them perform.”

What originally brought you to Hong Kong?

“I was studying acupuncture in Beijing and jumped at the opportunity to work at a clinic in Hong Kong.”

What did you like best about your time there?

“I really enjoyed hiking the jungle mountains and lounging by the sea.”

Do you have a favourite memory from your career so far?

“I once volunteered at a charity golf tournament and got to meet many professional athletes, including Charles Barkley. I’m a big fan!”

What brought you to Edmonton?

“I chose to live in Edmonton as I absolutely love being so close to the river valley and still be able to enjoy all the diversity in the downtown area.”

What kinds of hobbies do you enjoy?

“Hiking along the river valley with my Hong Kong village dog and exploring nature with my little nephew are my favourite ways to spend a day off.”

Is there anything that makes you unique in your practice?

“With over 20 years of experience working with professional athletes and coming from an athletic background as a competitive swimmer, I can offer my clients an effective treatment that gets to the root of the problem. Living in Asia for over 10 years I have combined a unique approach to musculoskeletal conditions that combines the best of eastern and western techniques.”
